CPEC Empowers a Unified China-Pakistan Alliance for a Shared Future: Advancements and Growth Unveiled
CPEC: In the Central Conference on China’s Foreign Affairs convened in Beijing on December 27-28, 2023, President Xi Jinping delivered a keynote address systematically reviewing the historic achievements of major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics. This event marked a pivotal moment as it provided a comprehensive roadmap for China’s external relations in the new era.
A significant highlight was China’s steadfast commitment to fostering a community with a shared future for mankind, a core tenet of Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy. Originating in Asia and gaining popularity among China’s neighboring countries, this vision, first introduced in 2013, reflects China’s deep understanding of human development laws and serves as a guiding principle for global progress.
As this initiative evolves from a Chinese proposition to an international consensus, the focus is on building an equal and orderly multipolar world. This envisions treating all countries equally, rejecting hegemonism, promoting democratisation in international relations, and upholding the UN Charter’s principles.
The call for universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization is echoed, emphasizing the need to address imbalances and deficits resulting from global resource allocation. Opposing unilateralism, protectionism, and advocating for open, equitable, and balanced economic globalization are emphasized.
Aiming for an open, inclusive, peaceful, and prosperous world, the strategy involves extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits in global governance. The Belt and Road Initiative, with the high-quality development of projects like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), plays a pivotal role in this vision, fostering regional connectivity, economic growth, and energy security.
The success of the 3rd Belt and Road Forum and the extension of the BRI to Africa and Latin America underscore China’s commitment to international cooperation. Notably, the CPEC, a flagship BRI project, has transformed Pakistan’s energy and infrastructure landscape, bringing investments, job opportunities, and significant development.
As Pakistan approaches general elections on February 8, 2024, and with the Year of the Dragon in the Chinese lunar calendar, China extends wishes for peace, stability, and development in Pakistan. Despite international challenges, China reaffirms its dedication to strengthening ties with Pakistan, promoting traditional friendship, and building a closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era. Inshallah!
