Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Announces Ramazan Relief Package and BISP Enhancements

Under the Prime Minister’s Ramazan Relief Package, subsidies are being extended to 19 essential commodities, including flour, pulses, ghee, edible oil, sugar, and beverages. Notably, the package, valued at Rs 7.5 billion, is tailored to benefit the poor and middle class, offering these items at subsidized rates compared to market prices.

This year’s Ramazan package allocates a substantial subsidy rate of 30%, surpassing the prevailing inflation rate. Over 39.6 million families, encompassing a significant portion of the impoverished and low-income middle-class populace, are slated to benefit from this initiative. Furthermore, streamlined registration processes and a robust complaint resolution mechanism aim to enhance accessibility and efficiency in delivering assistance.

BISP Enhancements:

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s dedicated efforts have resulted in a noteworthy increase in the quarterly assistance provided to deserving families under the Benazir Income Support Program. The quarterly amount has been raised to Rs 10,500, reflecting the government’s commitment to uplifting the underprivileged segments of society.

Directive for Distribution and Awareness:

In light of the upcoming Ramazan season, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the expeditious distribution of financial assistance to deserving individuals. Additionally, directives were issued to ensure that eligible families in Balochistan receive an increased quarterly assistance of Rs 10,500 along with an additional Rs 2,000.

Moreover, a nationwide awareness campaign is set to be launched to disseminate information about the Ramazan relief package comprehensively. This initiative aims to maximize the reach of the assistance program, ensuring that it reaches those who need it the most.
